Surprising Strength

Jenson's strength amazes me. While dealing with conditioning chemo side effects, he is still enjoying life.

When his tummy isn't hurting, he is joking around, laughing, and talking with "his friends" the nurses. We talk him into walking to see all the nurses at their station (to try to keep his strength up). He walks 3 separate times to see "his friends" and gives them all hugs. One time when I let go of his hand to open the door and move the pole out, he got so excited he tried to run and lost his balance and fell. But within a few minutes he decided he was ready to go again (this time not letting go of my hand).

Jenson gets up when he falls, dusts himself off, and keeps moving forward. He is one special boy!

It amazes me he has this kind of strength and joy in the midst of chemo to kill off all the cells in his body. I thought he would feel crummy the whole time, but Jenson's journey is full of surprises. Once again, chemo is my friend as he feels better on it than off it.

Tomorrow is the chemo that gives mouth sores as a likely side effect. At Christmas time, a little girl in the room next to us had a list of the top five things she wanted for Christmas. Her #1 wish was for her mouth sores to go away.

We can only pray given all Jenson's already been through God will spare him this pain...and keep giving him unexplainable strength to persevere.
