More good news today than bad news.
When I got to the hospital this morning, Doug had Jenson sitting up in the chair! First day this has happened in over a week.
Jenson also wanted to go to the playroom (only for a few minutes, but the fact he was even interested in toys is a sign he's feeling better).
We made him walk a couple different times today, and while he wasn't happy about it and you could see his little legs shaking as he took his first steps in about a week, he did it.
He wanted "Up-py" aka (pick me up) and gave me a big kiss on the cheek when I picked him up. Too adorable!
He also ate sweet potatoes and corn so has finally decided to start branching out from just milk.
He figured out how to stick his tongue out like "Lightning McQueen" in Cars and thought that was hilarious! Too cute.
The sweetest news of all though is the doctor said assuming he doesn't take a turn for the worse, he can go home tomorrow (Saturday)!!! Since he has no fevers, no vomit, and isn't dehydrated, we can bring him back Sunday for his last chemo treatment and he can hopefully sleep in his own bed tomorrow night! To say we are ready to exit the hospital is an understatement.
He's still got a ways to go on his recovery, but as the stronger chemo is kicking in he's definitely feeling better. That tells you how horrible he must feel when his disease is raging out of control when he immediately feels better after getting chemo (despite the strong side effects of it). Chemo is our friend.
We're thankful for mercy and improvements.
I told Sydney that Jenson was doing better, and of course her first question was, "Does that mean we get to go on our trip to California?". I told her, "It's looking like we'll get to go assuming he doesn't get worse on Saturday." To which she replied, "Yippy! I'm going to California."
Please pray for complete healing for Jenson and safe travels for Sydney and me on Sunday.

Kristin,
ReplyDeleteYou and Sydney are more than welcome to stay at our place in Oakland when you are out here. Just let Michelle know. We'd love to be able to help out in any way and that would be one small way we could.
Love,
Peggy
