The rocking chair. It serves as a symbol reminding me not to worry.
How might a rocking chair symbolize worry? I read a book a couple years ago which said "worrying is like spending all day in a rocking chair - it totally wears you out and gets you no where".
I have learned enough in the last few years about worry to last a lifetime. These lessons have come the hard way while watching someone you love in excruciating pain knowing you are helpless to do anything. Worrying does wear you out. And you know what else? It didn't change the situation. It just robbed me of my ability to live in the moment.
Jenson was never one to worry. He got a little rocking chair for Christmas from his Grandma Jo. He used to love to sit in it because it was just his size. But interestingly, he didn't rock in it. He would either sit still on the cushion or would sit with his bottom on the arm and his feet on the seat almost like he had conquered the rocking chair.
He did conquer the rocking chair of worry. And he did it by living in the moment. He didn't worry about the future or the past...he just lived each day looking for the hidden treasures. Some days the treasure of the day came in the form of a "treasure hunt" at the grocery store looking for Goldfish or yogurt. Some days the treasure came in dancing in the living room with Sydney to his favorite song "Take It All". Some days the treasure came in a toy cabinet at the Oncology clinic. Some days it came through snuggles with his family. Some days through the loving care of nurses.
But each day Jenson found a treasure... a treasure buried within each day.
Time to Remember

Beautiful picture of Jenson. A good reminder to dwell on what is good, like Jenson did. Charlotte
