Man of Mystery

It’s official… Jenson’s case is a mystery.

He is not following any normal patterns this disease typically follows. He responds initially to chemo treatments, and then the disease gets stronger. It is bizarre.

The doctors were certain the bone marrow was going to come back positive, and we got the results yesterday. Negative. This is a huge praise, so thank you Jesus for these results.

However, it does make his case even more confusing.

A negative result for the bone marrow combined with his rock bottom neutrophil counts (which indicated the strength of the immune system) mean we should wait to do more chemo. We need to give the bone marrow more time to recover before it gets hit hard again. Otherwise, the bone marrow may never recover.

We will be in the hospital until his immune system gets stronger or his fevers go away.

In the meantime, they are doing more blood draws. Blood draws to see if Jenson has some type of issue with his DNA. Blood draws for our whole family to see if anyone may be a bone marrow match in case we need to do this procedure down the road.

No chemo means his disease will continue to rage out of control. We are strongly considering giving him this un-researched anti-inflammatory drug called Anakinra. It works as a cell blocker. There are two cases where it has been used when chemo didn’t work and it worked.

We need to do something. We just found out he needs another blood transfusion today.

Please continue to pray for wisdom for us and the doctors – and strength for Jenson’s little body.
