Go with the flow

Our ride continues to be filled with surprises.

Jenson spiked a fever of 102 last night so we headed to the oncology clinic first thing this morning. Given his port was accessed yesterday for the MRI, it could mean a staph infection.

They take the blood cultures to check for the staph infection and give him antiobiotics through the port just to be safe. Results will come back over the next few days.

Jenson's skin is looking very pale, so they run blood tests to check his counts.

Surprise - he needs ANOTHER blood transfusion (yes you read that correctly). Apparently the one from last Firday didn't hold for long.

We are getting it now. It takes over 4 hrs, so the PET scan is rescheduled to Nov 21.

Our raft keeps floating down the river of life. Sometimes we hit white water rapids that threaten to tip us over. Sometimes we are scheduled to stop and miss our dock because the current speeds up. We don't control the river. The thing we do control is how we respond to the changes it brings.

This is not what we expected, but we are going with the flow.
