We are proud new owners. No, we didn't score any big deals at a Black Friday sale. We are owners of a different kind.
It was part of a promise we made back in January - a promise to Jenson and Sydney that 6 months after transplant (when Jenson's immune system was strong enough to be around animals again) that we would get a dog.
I can still hear Jenson asking "We get cute doggie?!" and clapping his hands as he called out "Yay!!!" when we said yes.
Jenson LOVED dogs. He always called out "Hi cute doggie!" as he would run over to greet every dog that ever crossed his path. Jenson had a little puppy of his own that he loved - a little dark brown stuffed animal holding a pink heart which he got at the hospital while recovering after the nick of his colon. He loved that little doggie and affectionately called him "Pup--peey."
Our new puppy is pure adorableness. We named her "Miley" (or "Smiley Miley" as Sydney likes to call her). Miley does live up to her name bringing smiles to our faces.
She reminds us to play. She'll play with anything - a brown shoestring, an orange painters apron from the Home Depot, a green Chem-lawn flag. She's not picky about what she plays with, she just wants to play and have fun.
Playing brings smiles - a good reminder we all could use a little more play time in our lives.

What a cute dog. I'm sure Jenson is looking down and is happy that you continued to honor him and Sydney and live life as God would want you to. I hope Miley brings you much joy.
