Circle of Friends

"You are not alone".

This can be one of the hardest things to remember when life throws you curve balls.  Sometimes the curve balls mean a change in your priorities for the day.  Sometimes the curve balls mean a change in priorities for your life.  Histio is one of those life changing curve balls.  The pitch comes in and hits you right in the heart leaving you breathless.  That is the moment when you need other people who have been hit by the same kind of pitch.  They can help you cope and give you hope for healing.

Doug and I have a passion for bringing Histio families together.  This weekend we started a Texas branch of a Histio support group called "Circle of Friends" (supported by the Histiocytosis Association).  As people shared their stories, I felt an instant bond.  There are other people who understand our crazy upside world of ports, docs, and germ-o-phobia.  Other people understand my hand sanitizer obsession and how a simple virus combined with a compromised immune system takes you down a scary path of uncertainty.  Others understand the pain of watching someone you love suffer.

We will continue to remind each other "you are not alone" in this journey.  Together we are stronger!
