We had family over this weekend for dinner. Roadtrips (future and past) came up.
My dad and Doug smiled as they remembered their roadtrip with Jenson. It was December of 2010 and we were moving to Texas. We needed to get Jenson here (and were avoiding putting Jenson on germy planes) and had a car we also needed to move. So while Sydney and I flew to Texas, my dad flew to California for a "guys roadtrip" to Texas.
After a 14 hour day in the car, they stopped in Albuquerque (or "Albu-turkey" as Jenson called it) for the night. Jenson was thrilled to be out of the car. He happily walked through the hotel lobby with a giant bag of Snyder pretzel sticks and a bag of Goldfish, one in each hand. His eyes twinkled as he would run and giggle at the excitement of being free of his car seat. He would flash a bright smile as he would greet everyone he saw in the lobby and the elevator with a wave and big "Hi!!!".
He was ALWAYS filled with light and laughter - even after a long day.
Time to Remember

It will forever be known as "Albu-Turkey" to me, in memory of sweet Jenson.
ReplyDeleteI love reading stories about Jenson. Please keep sharing your memories with us.
ReplyDeleteDitto. What a little sweetheart! I love how friendly Jensen was. I bet he made a lot of tired travellers smile :) Charlotte
