Monday was the start of a full week of chemo for the little guy.
This time it hit him a lot harder than the last round of chemo. He woke up Tuesday morning with a fever of 102 and throwing up. The Ara-C chemo drug can cause fevers, but a fever could also mean a staph infection.
It's off to the hospital Tuesday morning to get blood draws to check for staph, antibiotics thru his port to prevent septic shock just in case it's staph, and more chemo... the more chemo sounds sort of strange huh? That's the protocol unless the blood cultures come back positive for staph.
Then it's a waiting game.
The fevers rise to 104. The chemo continues Wed and Thurs too, but luckily the blood cultures come back negative for staph. Whew. That's a relief.
Not much walking this week either, so not sure if that's because he feels so awful or if it's a flare up in the legs again.
Today is the final chemo treatment. Now it's 3 weeks off chemo. He's ready for a break.
Praying for some days of feeling better for Jenson!
