What's up with that smell?

The movers arrived yesterday with our things in Texas at our new home. My parents graciously watched the kids all day to minimize the chaos at the house.

Doug and I were on a mission to unpack as much as humanly possible while the movers keep bringing more and more boxes in... you realize how much stuff you have when you move and even though we did a HUGE purge in California, we still had stuff in storage in Texas from when we moved to Australia 7 years ago so definitely have our fair share of things to unpack and continue purging.

When opening several of our boxes, we both said to each other "what is that smell"??? It wasn't in every box, but there was definitely a distinct odor. Huh. Then we started to notice a pattern, it was in every box of linens, blankets, and sometimes on clothes.

Our last place we rented in Oakland was an old house (approx 100 years old) and it had an older home smell... a little musty. That was it! The linens, blankets, and some clothes had picked up the musty smell of the old home. We laughed and said "Guess we were smelling a little musty everywhere we went and just didn't realize it." Sort of brings to mind an image of Pig-Pen from Charlie Brown. Hopefully it wasn't that noticeable!

So our friends will be getting a new and improved scent from the Aaron family in the future (once we get through all the laundry!).

The unpacking (and laundry) continues today while the kids remain in great care with grandma and grandpa.

More to come next time on Jenson's first visit at the new hospital and this week's chemo treatment.
