Meeting the new doctors

We're getting settled and it's starting to feel like home. We can already tell it going to be such a HUGE blessing living near family and having extra help. Even moving over the past couple weeks was so much easier than moving on our own. We had family to help watch the kids while Doug and I unpacked, family to help unpack, and help getting things set up. God has definitely answered our prayer for help and support, and we are so grateful!

We've had meetings with several of our new doctors. First, Jenson's oncologist seems very knowledgable. She had some interesting thoughts around several areas. One was to next time check to see if his body is absorbing the iron supplement given his blood counts aren't changing with the addition of it, she wants to do a test next visit to see if his body isn't absorbing it given his GI histiocytosis condition. If so, she said we could give it through his port so it gets straight into his bloodstream (interesting!).

We also meet with a pediatrician who was recommended from our pediatrician in CA (who we really loved). He seems great and wants to be very actively involved with his patients as he views his role as helping serve as the "hub" for all the different doctors and making sure they are looking at all the connections between things. We brought the kids, and Sydney liked him also which is a good sign.

We have referrals for a GI doctor, a pediatric dematologist, and an ENT doctor but haven't met with them yet. I suspect they will also be great given we got referrals on each of them as well.

In the meantime, Jenson's vocabulary is absolutely exploding lately!!! I think just being around more people (mainly family) is helping expose him to so many more new words and he's blossoming. Yesterday I was getting him dressed and pulled out his favorite "Thomas the Train blue t-shirt". He said, "Yay! Choo-choo." I pulled out 2 pairs of pants (grey ones and jeans) and he said "No. Orange." He wanted his favorite orange pants. He's got some opinions on clothes just like Sydney (we may be in trouble down the road).

Thanks for all the prayers. We're feeling very supported and excited to start this New Year off with extra support and help.

Kristin
