He had serious needs of his own - hospitalized post bone marrow transplant, recently released from the ICU after a near death experience, his hair falling out in clumps from the transplant chemo. He laid in his hospital bed hooked up to numerous machines keeping him alive.
He was grieving.
Sometimes grief gives us perspective beyond our years. As we walk through those broken places, we know exactly what others need to make it along that journey.
Jenson knew what Histio warriors needed. It wasn't extravagant. It wasn't overly expensive. Cuddly stuffed monkeys always made Jenson smile and feel better. He knew what he wanted to send.
But it didn't stop there. Sydney (Jenson's sister) wanted brothers and sisters to get monkeys too and added smiley faced lolli-pops for the entire family to the care package. When your sibling is fighting for their life, you fight together as a family.
Out of compassionate hearts, Monkey Grins was born.
It's mission: to send smiles to Histio families. With your help, we've sent hundreds of smiles all over the world.
But we can't do it alone.
October 14 would have been Jenson's sixth birthday. In honor of this day, we want to send more smiles to Histio families all over the world. We've partnered with the Histiocytosis Association to find the families, but we need your help. We need a little "monkey love".
Will you join us in helping send smiles?
We need new stuffed monkeys (any color, any size). You can mail your monkey donations to:
Monkey Grins
190 East Stacy Road
